For their Fall Gala, AIGA put out a challenge for its members: design a wine label for Clos du Vall 2004 Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon.
We decided to bring some digital thinking to the competition. We were inspired by two ideas: one, Bruce Sterling’s concept of a Spime and second, the locovore sensibility of understanding where one’s food comes from.
Our label has two elements: a physical label featuring the batch code, and a companion site. By entering this code the user is immersed in the vin-ography of this batch: history, tasting notes, appellation, weather data, process photos, as well as comments from the community.
Gala guests loved the experience, and the additional layer of story that took it way beyond traditional label design. We were pleased to see that our digital touch was well received by the crowd. Check out the prototype here.

Every month the people of Odopod gather together to enjoy an all studio lunch and present new people, new projects and launches with each other. It’s a super fun way for everyone in the studio to collectively share what we’ve been working on, exploring and experimenting with, thinking about, and creating.
Some work we presented today included Microsoft Zune, PlayStation and Honda. There’s a lot going inside our walls and we’re excited to share them as a group.
Special thanks to Cook! SF who provided organic foods from high-quality local suppliers for us all to devour

We love to see design working for social change, so we wanted to highlight this site: Photographer James Nachtwey is working to spread the word about a deadly, drug-resistant form of TB. Good work.
Spread the word.
More about it in this TED talk.

We’ve been spending some time working on improving one of our favorite internal projects, the Odopod Sketch Application.
In the improvement process, we were thrilled to uncover some amazing work from those of you illustrating with the tool. Take a look! It’s also worth visiting each individual sketch and watching as the illustrations unfold before your eyes.
We are continuing to evolve the app so please, continue to create your own work, browse the growing database of sketches, and watch for updates in the future.
